Haven't joined Groupon yet?

Now is the right time to join Groupon!  I've used it several times to buy gifts or to get tickets, restaurant discounts, etc.  You'll get 50-90% savings by buying through Groupon.  Bowling, Food, Movies, Massages, Hotels, and so much more!

What is Groupon and how does it work?
Groupon negotiates huge discounts—usually 50-90% off—with popular businesses. We send the deals to thousands of subscribers in our free daily email, and we send the businesses a ton of new customers. That's the Groupon magic.

All you have to do is
(1) Check your email, Facebook or Twitter feeds for daily deals on cool local businesses.
(2) Groupons are more fun when used with friends. Pass along deals by email or broadcast them to your social networks.  This is optional, but you're rewarded if someone joins and buys a deal.
(3) Print the voucher or bring it up on your mobile device, then present it at the business to get your deal.

It's THAT easy!

Another sure way to get coupons...

Another great way to get good coupons is to sign up for free samples.  I just got my sample box of Frosted Mini-Wheats (with a touch of fruit) from Vocalpoint.com and it included a B1G1 coupon and a few dollar off coupons to give to my "friends".  I think I'll wait and see if the cereal goes on sale before the coupon expires, and if not, I'll at least use the B1G1 coupon...my daughter and I both liked the cereal, and I'm sure my husband would too.

Then I thought back to several of the free samples I've recieved in the mail recently, and I think they ALL had coupons.  I must say, the coupons that come with the Vocalpoint samples are the best, though.

Food for Thought...

So I recently found out that Shaw's doubles coupons...correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are the only store in our area that doubles coupons.  At first I thought, "Wow!  What a great find!"  After all, I watch "Extreme Couponing" and most of those people get the deals they get because their store doubles coupons.

Then it occurred to me.  I do my groceries at Market Basket because they are the least expensive store around.  Then I played a scenario in my head:

I have a buy 3 and get 60 cents off coupon
I buy 3 at Market Basket for 99 cents each and use my coupon OR
I buy 3 at Shaw's for $1.29 each and use my 60 cent coupon that doubles...

Market Basket final price:  $2.37
Shaw's final price:  $2.67

Since their prices are generally higher, it's not worth going to Shaw's...unless they're having a GREAT sale.

...even then, MOST of my coupons are $1 off something.  They will only double coupons up to 99 cents.  So for the couple of coupons that double, is it worth driving across the river and out of my way instead of just going down the street?  No.  The savings would not make it up to me.

What about shopping for items that have double coupons at Shaw's and get the rest at Market Basket?  I have 2 kids and to cart them around to a million different stores is DEFINATELY NOT worth it.

What are your thoughts on this?

Get MORE coupons!

OK, if you're like me, I'm not just about to buy 5 Sunday papers or go dumpster diving for coupons.  But you CAN get more coupons by taking about 2 minutes to contact your favorite companies and letting them know what you like about their product...not all, but many companies will reward their "loyal customers" with coupons.  Here are a few I've recently tried:
Huggies
Barber Foods (they have great frozen chicken cordon bleu)
Bush's Baked Beans

...and there are many more suggestions on LivingRichWithCoupons.com.  I have tried some others on this list who have not sent coupons, but all youn lose is a couple minutes of your time.  I've also found that compliments works better than complaints.  Although I did contact Duncan Hines with a complaint via phone and they sent me a coupon for a free box of brownies.  Good Luck!
