CVS has Right Guard Total Defense deoderant for Buy One, Get One Free. With that special, use the $3 off 2 coupon from Coupons.com. Thanks for the tip from MoneySavingMom.com.  According to their Sunday flyer, Walgreens also has this same deal.  When I went to my Walgreens, they were $4.49 each, so after the BOGO deal and coupon, it costs $1.50 for both.  Not bad if this is something you would use all the time.  At Walmart, they were $2.50 (no BOGO deal) so after coupons it would cost $2.00 for 2.

Some Walgreens locations has a display set up for Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets (2 ct) for $.99. Use this $1.00 off coupon to get them for FREE! Thanks for the tip from DealSeekingMom.com.  They didn't have these at my Walgreens, but if you're stopping anyway, take a look for them at yours.

Reading Magazines on a Budget

You like to read magazines. Some cost alot...some don't. Either way, I ended up with some magazines someone gave me - a whole year's worth that they saved for something, then decided they didn't need them anymore. Redbook, Family Fun magazine, Parenting magazine...you get the idea. I took them off her hands and have been flipping through them.

Honestly, unless you're looking for the latest fashion trends, these articles don't "expire" that quickly. I read about family issues, relationship issues, kid's crafts, and recipes... even though the info was about a year old, it still seemed current.

Save yourself a few dollars (not to mention some trees) and ask around - find out what your friends, family, and neighbors are reading...and see if they are willing to pass their magazines on to you when they're done with them. I even put in a "Wanted" request on Freecycle.org and get magazines for free from someone local who is done reading them. Try it and let me know what you think.

If you are a loyal Kotex user, Walgreens has them (48ct-60ct boxes) on sale for 2/$7. They also have a $2 off coupon in their August coupon booklet (found as you walk into store...it will ring in twice because you are getting 2 boxes, no need to cut out 2 coupons). You can also use the $1.50 off 2 coupon found in this past Sunday's newspaper...ultimately you'll get both boxes for $1.50 (or $0.75 each)! A great deal!

Smaller is Not Always Less Expensive

So, I decided I wanted chocolate ice cream...(I don't usually prefer chocolate ice cream, but I guess pregnancy does weird things to me)...as I was doing my groceries at Market Basket, I decided that I would pick-up a "small" container of it, thinking I'd save money. After all, I probably would get sick of the chocolate ice cream if I had to eat a whole half-gallon because my husband doesn't like chocolate ice cream at all.

Well, the only "small" containers of chocolate available was Haagen-dazs. A pint was $2.99, vs a half-gallon of Hood or Market Basket Premium was $2.50. Guess which one I picked? The half-gallon, of course. Turns out to be a better decision than I thought. Not only did I save money, but my craving for it hasn't gone away yet...

Savings at Walgreens and BJ's

Please be aware that some stores, including Walgreens and BJ's allow you to use one of their coupons in addition to a manufacturer coupon for the same item - that's double the savings! Thanks to a tip I found on moneysavingmom.com, I just went to Walgreens and bought 3 boxes of Huggies wipes (72ct) for $0.97 each! I used the Walgreens 15% off "Friends and Family" coupon, another Walgreens $1 off 1 box of Huggies coupon (which they automatically ring in as $1 per box ($3 total) and a $2.50 off 3 boxes of Huggies manuafacturer coupon from SmartSource.com.

I usually go to BJ's and buy the 616ct box of Luvs wipes for $12.99 minus their $3 coupon, and sometimes minus a $1 or $2 manufacturer coupon with that.

These 2 deals come out the the same ultimate price (actually, without a Luvs manufacturer coupon at BJ's the Huggies deal was better at Walgreens). Either way, a steal over paying full price for wipes normally, even at Walmart's low price.

My suggestion is to stock up on Huggies during the great deal (see moneysavingmom.com for more details and to get your hands on the coupons you'll need, along with other great deals) and when you run out of Huggies, grab hold of your BJ's coupon book and go for the Luvs. In my opinion, Huggies are better wipes than Luvs, but I'd take Luvs over the Sesame Street wipes at the Dollar Store anyday (those are too rough).
